Balboa Park has been named by TripAdvisor as the number three ranked best things to do in San Diego, and it is mostly free.
Acres of gardens and grass, trees and fountains. Even Sunday outdoor organ concerts.
While most of the museums are open free one day each month, the world famous San Diego Zoo is always worth the price of admission.

Balboa Park, San Diego California

Balboa Park is to San Diego as Central Park is to New York, full of gardens, museums, places to eat, fountains, outdoor art, zoo and merry-go-round.
In addition, Balboa Park has the largest outdoor pipe organ in the world and an entire Spanish Village art colony.
Balboa Park was completed in 1910 but became world famous for the 1915 Panama-California Exposition. Along with the pseudo-Spanish buildings the Exposition included an Indian village and nudist colony. (We were not as “PC” then as today)
While you are in San Diego visiting Balboa Park, explore San Diego’s other attractions.
