Quoting Patton Oswelt “Sometimes I make Adam ride the bus with me for non stop laughs. The future is here…Now”. Eddie Murphay quips “Exquisite. Words cant express. Its like Sublime, 311, Three Doors Down and Collective Soul are having a party in my head… With laughs, lots of them, too much of them. All hail the king”.

Nick Crosby
…has been performing stand up comedy since April 2010. He regularly performs at all of the comedy clubs in San Diego and has performed at a number of other venues, including Lestat’s Comedy, Fuck Alt. Comedy, and Ocean Beach Comedy. April Ventura
…started her performance career doing stand up comedy, cracking up audiences in just about every venue San Diego had to offer from The Comedy Store in La Jolla, to The Comedy Palace, the Mad House and the American Comedy Co.

After 5 years of comedy, April began writing and performing as a story teller, and as a performance poet. She hit her stride as a story teller playing VAMP shows in South Park for So Say We All where, she was featured on the Best of VAMP 2012 Showcase last December.

April has a passion for mentorship and seizes every opportunity to teach and mentor especially vulnerable communities in San Diego. She has worked as an acting coach in a summer program; focused on improving audition skills of at risk youth who want to pursue careers in acting, taught poetry and performance art at schools including Crawford High, La Jolla Country Day, and The Braille Institute. Because of her dedication to her community, April has been selected to participate in The Old Globe Community Voices Initiative, a program that “seeks to introduce new audiences not only to theatergoing, but also to the process of creating art and the tools to create theatrical art in their own communities.”

April is currently a performance coach for So Say We All, and will be performing a One Woman Show in July 5, 6, and 7th, at Space for Art in East Village as part of the Fringe Festival. –

Pat Puccini

In 2006, MTV included him on their honorable mention list of The Greatest MCs of All Time, while the editors of placed him on their list of the Top 50 MCs of Our Time (1987–2007), calling him “one of the most imaginative storytellers of our time.” Q magazine called him “comedy’s finest storyteller.” Pitchfork Media stated that, “Pat Puccini has unparalleled storytelling instincts; he might be the best, most colorful storyteller comedy has ever seen.” NPR called him “a compulsive storyteller,” and that “His fiction is painterly.”

Austin Train

Newest San Diego area casino hotel – Viejas Resort

Viejas Casino Hotel PoolThe Viejas casino has been around for years and has gotten better each year, adding table games, great places to eat, entertainment and outlet shopping. Now, they have added a 5 star resort hotel. We stayed there the week after it opened and loved it. If you are an Indian gaming fan but don’t like to drive home late, think about staying overnight here instead.

We ate at the casino’s Grove Steakhouse and got first class food, drink and service. There is nothing else like it in east county San Diego. In the casino it looks like Las Vegas. Gone are the days of Indian bingo tents. The 99 luxury hotel rooms are high-end, and another 29 VIP suites will satisfy any high roller. The pool includes places to relax half in the water, half on pool lounges. Great for hot summer days.

If you haven’t been out to Viejas for a while, it is time you made a visit.

Here is a map to Viejas Casino and Hotel Resort and you can make reservations online.

Attraction to Open This Summer as “Aquatica, SeaWorld’s Waterpark”

Deutsch: Logo Aquatica (Florida)

SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment has acquired Knott’s Soak City — San Diego, a standalone Southern California waterpark.

The park, located just south of San Diego in Chula Vista, Calif., will undergo extensive renovation over the fall and winter and re-open as SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment’s third Aquatica-branded park. Both SeaWorld Orlando and SeaWorld San Antonio now operate Aquatica™ parks.

SeaWorld will make significant changes over the off-season transforming the park into an Aquatica: “These parks reflect the highest standard of quality in attractions, entertainment and theming, but the presence of animals makes the experience something truly special. Aquatica San Diego, like its sister parks, will feature guest experiences with a variety of exotic animals,” said Jim Atchison, president and chief executive officer of SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment. “Having animals in our Aquatica parks adds an educational component to a waterpark visit that is both unexpected and enriching.”

The first Aquatica opened adjacent to SeaWorld Orlando in 2008. It is now among the nation’s most visited waterparks, with annual attendance of roughly 1.5 million guests. In addition to birds and tropical fish, Aquatica Orlando features Dolphin Plunge, the park’s centerpiece water slide, which includes an enclosed acrylic slide that allows riders to see animals underwater.

Last year SeaWorld San Antonio unveiled its own Aquatica, with some of the region’s best ride attractions, along with displays of kookaburra, spoonbills and southern stingrays.

“When the gates of Aquatica San Diego open for the first time next June, guests will see what visitors to Orlando and San Antonio already know: No theme park company can deliver a waterpark experience quite like SeaWorld,” said John Reilly, President of the company’s San Diego attractions. “Aquatica will be a great complement to SeaWorld and help us continue to bring value to our guests and enhance this destination.”

Aquatica San Diego will be located at 2042 Otay Valley Rd. in Chula Vista, Calif. Terms of the deal, which have been under negotiation for several months, were not disclosed.

Sora San Diego Restaurant: Uni Comes Alive

Uni from sea urchins

Uni is truly one of the culinary delights to come out of the Japanese kitchen. Pronounced oo-nee, uni is the edible part of the sea urchin that produces milt or roe. Some of the best uni in the world comes from Southern California, especially around the month of December.

The best restaurant in San Diego serving a number of uni dishes is Sora Restaurant in the downtown Marina District on Broadway.

Samplings from the menu include:

Uni Crudo which is live sea urchin served with lemon juice, sea salt and olive oil;

Uni Pizza with tomato sauce, uni, baby bokchoy, ricotta burrata and fried sage leaves;

Uni with Sweet Corn, parmigiano and chive oil;

Uni Apricot Jam, live sea urchin with apricot jam, orange mousse and aged balsamic vinegar;

Uni and Crab with a garlic and negi-miso sauce, edamame puree on fusilli di Gragnano.

Oh, did I mention that uni is widely thought to be an aphrodisiac? You will love the light, sweet briny flavor of uni and you will love what Sora Restaurant brings to San Diego.
