What started out as a one-stage (no-stage) neighborhood event featuring the stylings of a volunteer San Diego Police band, the Adams Avenue Street Fair has grown into THE largest FREE street musical event in California with over 60 acts and 60,000 participants.
Each year’s event includes bigger name entertainers, including The Iron Butterfly, Mick Taylor, Charlie Musselwhite, Third World, The Paladins, The Five Blind Boys of Alabama, Big Sandy, Earl Thomas, Ann Peebles, Eek-A-Mouse and No Doubt. The real headliners however comprise the local talent. Where else could you see an hear so many local performers in one weekend?
No street fair would be complete without a carnival, beer garden tents, food and craft booths and street performers. There are 22 restaurants along Adams Avenue. Try one or two and come back often. How do you say “my neighborhood is your neighborhood” in your language?
