Times Square and The Ride in New York, NY

Times Square New York CityOK, so every tourist in the world who comes to New York City eventually goes to Times Square. That doesn’t mean YOU shouldn’t go there. It has to be one of the safest places to be in NYC, late at night, on the streets. Especially if you can walk home. The best deal going has to be the Best Western Plus “President Hotel at Times Square”. Check out a map to the hotel. You can walk from the hotel to not only Times Square, but also Radio City Music Hall and “The Rock” (Rockefeller Center).

If you ever wanted to go to a Broadway (or off-Broadway) show, this is the theater district where you will wind up any way. Lots of restaurants of every price and description.

One of the newest New York things to experience is “The Ride“. Imagine a tour bus with all the seats facing the sidewalk, making all of Manhattan a stage. Along with the usual landmarks, you will see the people on the streets, coming and going, and some doing street performances. You never know what to expect on this 75-minute ride. Just be sure to get your tickets in advance online, especially if you want to take the tour at a specific time or day.

More to do in New York City

Times Square, New York Times Square is certainly one of the places you will want to go when you are in New York, especially at night. Droves of people are out, the neon lights light up the streets and the many clubs, shows and restaurants will keep you in constant amazement.

Here is a listing for tickets to the major Broadway shows in and around Times Square. Our favorite this last time was Chicago on Broadway. We ordered the tickets online. Even though we couldn’t select our seats online, we wound up with 6th row center seats at about half the box-office price!

For getting around to see as much as possible without the expense of cabs, take the New York City Hop-on Hop-off Tour. Lots of street vendor sell tour tickets, but you never know if you are getting the best price. Check online before you go there and get discounted tickets.

One more way to see everything is to get the New York CityPass which gets you into:

  • Empire State Building Observatory and one audio tour
  • American Museum of Natural history, with one Space Show
  • Museum of Modern Art
  • Metropolitan Museum of Art
  • Guggenheim Museum OR Top of the Rock admission
  • Circle Line cruise OR Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island Ferry Ticket and General Admission
